Have The Best 2015: A Five Step System
I’d like to share with you a simple five step process that could help you have your best year possible.
As Elbert Hubbard said “Many people fail in life, not for lack of ability or brains or even courage but simply because they have never organised their energies around a goal.”
The first step is to figure out exactly what you’re hoping to achieve this year. Take a few moments now and figure out exactly what you want to achieve in 2015.
This can include personal and professional goals, trips you want to take, and people you want to see. Until you know what you want you’ll never be able to achieve it.
The second step is to apply the SMART formula to each of these goals. SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely.
Here’s an example of a Goal vs SMART goal:
Goal: “I want to lose weight” vs SMART goal: “I want to lose 5lbs by February 15th”
I hope you see the difference. The SMART goal is far more defined and has a clear finish point.
The next step is too make a plan. The best goal with out a plan is still only a dream.
The easiest way to do this is get expert help. For our weight loss example you should consult a fitness professional. They’ll be able to help you create a plan and help you stick to it.
But what if you can’t do can’t do that?
Then do some research of your own and work backwards from your end goal. Break your big goal into smaller SMART goals.
The fourth step is to get some accountability. The best way to do this is by getting a professional to monitor your progress and help you stay on track.
Alternatively you can post it on your social media accounts or ask your friends to help you achieve it.
The final step in the process is to read your goals everyday. This helps you stay on track and reminds you what you’re working towards.
I know this seems like a challenging process but it can have dramatic impact on your success. I have never failed to achieve a goal that I’ve applied this process to.
So if you want make 2015 your best year ever try this process. You really have nothing to lose other than a few minutes of your time.
Here’s the exact five part process.
Step #1: Decide what you want to achieve in 2015
Step #2: Write SMART goals for each
Step #3: Make a plan to achieve your SMART goals
Step #4: Get accountability
Step #5: Read your goals daily
