Improving Our Training Environment 

If you’ve been into the academy recently you may have noticed a new addition to the training areas.

There are flags between the two gyms.

I wanted to take this opportunity to explain why we’ve put these up. Our goal is to provide the best possible training environment for our students.

An important aspect of this is limiting the distractions while people are training.

Staying focused after a hard day at work or school can be challenging enough without the added difficulty of being able to see another class taking place.

We’ve been trying to solve this problem since we remodelled the academy in 2012. Last month Chief thought of the simple solution of putting up the flags.

These are a fantastic solution for several reasons;

• They create visual barrier between the training areas that help limit the distractions.
• They allow us to respect the history of the martial arts we teach.
• They can be easily removed if we want to provide more space for any seminars or events we teach
• And they look great.

I understand the flags make it a little more difficult to see into the back gym and we are trying to find a solution to this as well.

However, our first priority has to be to the students training in the classes and providing the best training environment for them.
